Ann Arbor School Lunches During COVID-19 Closures

Ann Arbor Food Resources During School Closures

With schools closed for COVID-19 prevention, many children rely on school breakfast and lunch for healthy meals. There are a number of resources for continuing these services in Ann Arbor and surrounding communities.

Map of Pickup Locations

Who is Eligible?

The food resources below through the public school systems are for children up to 18 years old or any child with special needs through age 26. Meals will contain a balanced breakfast and lunch and will be distributed to children and parents/guardians. Due to social distancing, the meals will be packed to go instead of being shared in a community setting.

Note, some districts require you to pre-register for a pickup to ensure enough meals are prepared.

Ann Arbor Public Schools Program

Ann Arbor Public Schools and Chartwell Food Services will be providing to-go meals for pickup. If you have food allergy needs or cannot make it to a pick-up location, please call the AAPS Food Hot Line: 734-994-2265

Food pickups are continuing through the summer. From Thursday, July 2 through August 21 pickups will continue on Tuesdays and Fridays through August 21. * Note, pickup will be Thursday, July 2 instead of Friday, July 3 for the holiday*

For summer, the Scarlett Middle School pickup has moved to the front loop at Mitchell Elementary. While they have different addresses, they are right next to each other. Pioneer High School and Skyline High School were added as all-day pickup locations. AAPS is also supporting Food Gatherers with distribution at The Villas Apartments and Golfside Lake Apartments.

Food distribution is from 11a-12:30p at most locations. Peace Neighborhood pickup is from 11:30a-1:30p. Pickup at the two high schools is available from 8a-3p. Please call prior to arrival.

Meet Up and Eat Up Program – Ypsilanti, Whitmore Lake, Milan & More

Food Gatherers administers the Meet Up and Eat Up Summer Food Service Program every summer. They are replacing the food programs that Ypsilanti Community Schools, Lincoln Community Schools, Milan Community Schools, and Whitmore Lake Public Schools have been providing since schools closed in March. They are also providing service to two additional sites in Ann Arbor School District.

Typically the Meet Up is a big part of the summer food program. However, with social distancing restrictions, the Department of Education has given approval for to-go meals. While pickup is offered two days a week at most locations, meals are provided for Breakfast and Lunch until the next scheduled pickup day.
