The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra released their 2013-2014 schedule last week. The schedule includes the Bernard L. Maas Foundation Family Concert Series. There are three Family Concerts in the series.
The Family Concert Series begins on November 24 with Beethoven Lives Upstairs sponsored by Toyota at the Michigan Theater. Beethoven Live Upstairs is a play that won an Emmy Award for Best Children’s Program after airing on HBO. In the play, Beethoven is an upstairs boarder in the house of young Christoph. Actors in costume will bring the story alive.
The annual Sing-Along with Santa is on December 7 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ. Kids will have the opportunity to meet Santa for pictures and have cookies and cider.
The season wraps up with The Planets on March 23. The concert will features songs such as Holst’s The Planets, Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra (theme from 2001 Space Odyssey), Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony, plus music from Star Wars. Come dressed in costume (with lightsabers if you wish). The concert will feature photographs of space and planets from the University of Michigan’s Astronomy space projects.
