The first Saturday in February is Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. We were first introduced to Ice Cream for Breakfast by Go! Ice Cream in Ypsilanti. It was one of our favorite days whether we were enjoying cinnamon rolls and ice cream in store or taking it home during the pandemic, we tried to go every year.

I’m not sure whose brilliant idea it was to make this in February when it’s cold. But, you can always counteract the cold ice cream with hot cocoa for the kids and coffee, tea or cocoa for the adults.
Ice Cream for Breakfast at Blank Slate Creamery
Blank Slate Creamery will open at 9a on Saturday, February 7 for Ice Cream For Breakfast Day.
Enjoy a Waffle Sundae – a fresh waffle wedge with your choice of ice cream, 2 toppings, whipped cream and a cherry. They even have special flavors for the day like Blueberry Pancake and Bourbon Turtle.
Blank Slate has plenty to offer the grown ups too. They are offering Affogato – ice cream swimming in fresh espresso – and an Espresso Milkshake.
Want to offset the cold ice cream? They’ll have house-made Hot Cocoa with marshmallow cream and chocolate sprinkles. Or have a drip coffee.
Fill Your Stanley at Washtenaw Dairy
Washtenaw Dairy is celebrating Ice Cream for Breakfast Day with “Stuff Your Stanley”. You can get 4 scoops in your Stanley (or other wide mouthed tumbler) for $8. The deal is limited to 48 ounce (or less) tumblers. You can pick a different flavor for each scoop. Note tumblers must be clean, so you can’t go through the line for a second stuff your Stanley unless you have a second cup.
Want to make it more breakfast like? Add a Washtenaw Dairy donut or a coffee to your order.
Ice Cream for Breakfast At Home
You can enjoy Ice Cream for breakfast at home. There were a few years we couldn’t make it to an event and had to make our own ice cream for breakfast creation at home.
When making ice cream for breakfast at home, there are so many options.
- Waffle Sundaes – either make homemade waffles, buy store bought waffles, or go easy with Eggos or other freezer waffles
- Cinnamon Roll Sundaes – This was the Go! Classic. We made our own version using canned Pillsbury cinnamon rolls in place of the fresh cinnamon rolls they had

- Donut Sandwiches- Pickup local donuts the night before (or make a quick run in the morning). Slice the donut and stuff with ice cream
- Cereal Sundae – We already eat cereal with milk, so just swap that out for sweet ice cream. Consider using cereals with stronger flavors like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Puffs, and others.
- Healthier options – Use a small scoop of ice cream and top with lots of fresh fruit and fruit syrup.
The beauty of doing it at home is that the kids will be so intrigued by the treats, they won’t care if you take some shortcuts!
