Kids ages 5 & up, express yourself, make art, learn rhythms and explore the world at Summer of HeART with Youth Arts Alliance. This free eight-week series invites you to try new things with YAA teaching artists and community partners. All supplies and a snack provided. No sessions July 3-5. Made possible in part by the United Way of Southeast Michigan, the Barnes & Thornburg Racial and Social Justice Foundation, University of Michigan Center for World Performance Studies and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services – Washtenaw County.
Each day’s activities will be different. The lineup is offered by YAA Teaching Artists & community partners:
- Theater workshops led by Dana Pittman and Josh McDaniel.
- Sculpture, print-making, papermaking, ceramics, and paper mache with Anna Schwartz.
- Music and songwriting workshops with Kyle Love.
- Congolese hand drumming along and dance instruction with members of the Bichini Bia Congo Dance Theater Company every Friday afternoon.
- Science Savvy Kids Club workshops led by Tamara Tucker-Ibarisha the following Thursdays:
- June 27: Human Body Boot Camp: Explorations in Anatomy and Physiology
- July 25: All Creatures Great and Small: Investigations in Organismal Biology
- August 15: Potions and Poisons: Fun with Liquid Science and Chemistry
