SUMMARY:Varta Storytelling Festival
DESCRIPTION:\nVarta\, a storytelling festival\, is coming to Ann Arbor on O
 ctober 13 at the Ann Arbor District Library (downtown). The&nbsp\;event is
  free for all and will include author's panels\, a Dastangoi storytelling\
 , musical performances\, and dancing\, and an oral storytelling exhibit sh
 owcasing storytelling techniques from South Asia. The festival will also f
 eature storytime inspired by the Ramayana\, writing prompts\, trivia\, col
 oring\, and book signings by authors for kids and families.\n\n\n\nAuthors
  Saadia Faruqi\, Suma Subramaniam\, Salma Hussain\, Gauri Dalvi\, Shweta K
 umar\, Upasna Kakroo\, and many others will join the event. The event will
  also see the launch of a children's magazine\, Bento. Kitabi Qisse reader
 's choice honors for South-Asian books from 2023-2024 will be announced du
 ring the festival along with other giveaways. The event is supported by th
 e Michigan Asia Pacific American Affairs Commission (MAPAAC)\, the Univers
 ity of Michigan's South-Asian Institute\, and the Ann Arbor District Libra
 ry. It has been conceptualized and brought to Michigan by award-winning no
