Region: Kerrytown
803 N Main Street, Ann Arbor

Event Description

International Samaritan at 803 N. Main St. Ann Arbor invites kids and families to come to a free, holiday art installation, No Room at the Inn, produced by a well known Detroit muralist, Chazz Miller.

Chazz and International Samaritan teamed up to make an impression this holiday season about the challenges millions face who are in extreme poverty.

No Room at the Inn depicts the nativity scene made entirely out of garbage and recyclables. Chazz produced this to draw attention to the garbage dump community crisis, and the millions who are living in garbage dump communities so they can sell the recyclables to make a living.

In the front yard of International Samaritan’s office which is a home in Ann Arbor across from Main Street Motors, parents and kids can visit Chazz’s nativity scene, free and open 24/7.  There are also three replica homes on the side of the office that depict the dirt floor shacks many in poverty build out of the recycled materials.

Parents are always looking for a way to get the point across to our kids that they are so fortunate to live where we live.  This picture is worth 10,000 words and does the trick without parents having to say a word.  And better yet, it’s free, open any time you want to go and all for a good cause.  What a great way to teach your children to appreciate and give back, especially after all those holiday gifts are opened!!
