SUMMARY:Life Sciences Orchestra &amp\; UMS Choral Union Concert
DESCRIPTION:\nThe spring concert of the U-M Life Sciences Orchestra will fe
 ature the 150-member UMS Choral Union\, and special guest solo vocalists\,
  performing a stirring oratorio by English composer Edward Elgar.\n\n\n\nE
 lgar’s&nbsp\;The Dream of Gerontius&nbsp\;is often performed in England 
 but rarely in America\, making this a unique opportunity to hear the work 
 featured in the new movie&nbsp\;The Choral&nbsp\;starring Ralph Fiennes.\n
 \n\n\nThe performance\, which will be without an intermission\, will begin
  at 7:30 p.m. with the American Overture by another English composer\, Ben
 jamin Britten.\n\n\n\nMusic director Nicholas Bromilow\, who is English\, 
 will conduct the Elgar. Assistant conductor Michael Roest\, who is America
 n\, will conduct the Britten. Both are graduate students in the U-M School
  of Music\, Theatre &amp\; Dance’s acclaimed orchestral conducting progr
 am.\n\n\n\nThe UMS Choral Union is directed by Scott Hanoian.\n\n\n\nThe L
 SO is made up of faculty\, staff\, students\, alumni\, retirees\, and fami
 ly members from across the U-M health and life science community\, who aud
 ition each year to take part in the orchestra. It is part of Gifts of Art 
 at Michigan Medicine. The Choral Union is open to U-M students and adults 
 from U-M and the community by audition\, and is part of UMS.\n\n\n\n\n
