Everyone will b uild their own simple hook rack out of Poplar to take home (see photo) and in the course of doing that we'll learn about the following:\n\n\n\n\nMea suring\n\n\n\nCutting wood with hand tools\n\n\n\nSanding\n\n\n\nNails\, s crews\, hammers\, and screwdrivers\n\n\n\nDrilling\n\n\n\nClamping and glu ing\n\n\n\nMounting stuff to walls and repairing small holes\n\n\n\n\nEver yone will use a tape measure\, saw\, combination square\, claw hammer\, na il set\, clamps\, screwdriver\, electric drill\, stud finder\, drywall anc hor\, drywall knife\, drywall compound\, level\, and wood glue. We pack a lot into 4 hours!\n\n\n\nYou'll also receive a detailed set of notes (over 100 pages!) covering everything from class\, plus a lot of extra informat ion for later on. There's even a list of suggested tools to get you starte d with your own toolbox.\n\n\n\nThis class is recommended for folks who ha ve never used a saw or drilled a hole\, but would like to start learning h ow they can make and fix things around the house. \; This would make a great class for students heading off on their own. \n\n\n\nMakerworks sug gests ages 12 and up. The classes page says ages 13-15 with a guardian\, 1 6+ solo\n\n\n\nKiwanis has provided funding for this class.
