Event Description

Join Jamon Jordan, official Detroit Historian, at this family and youth-centered program focused on the history of the Underground Railroad in Southeast Michigan.

Jamon Jordan, official Detroit Historian, will share the history of Detroit as a center of the abolitionist movement and an important site of the Underground Railroad at this family and youth-centered program. He will also discuss the numerous Underground Railroad leaders and sites in the Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor areas.

“Not only were African Americans leaders in this movement, the fight against slavery is what helped to create the early African American community in Detroit and SE Michigan! Please come and learn at an exciting presentation about the people, the events, and the places that were a part of the fight for freedom in Detroit!” –Jamon Jordan

Jamon Jordan is the official Detroit Historian, Detroit History Educator at the University of Michigan and a tour leader with Black Scroll Network History & Tours.
