 t half of “A Long Journey Called Home” revisits canonical repertoire f
 rom formative childhood years at the piano\, including works by George Ger
 shwin and W. A. Mozart. The second half offers pieces that became newly em
 otionally and technically available in adulthood\, ending with noted conte
 mporary American composer Missy Mazzoli's stunning\, cathartic 2022 work "
 Forgiveness Machine." In the form of essays\, the concert program notes ch
 ronicle a journey of self-discovery\, injury\, physical and mental recover
 y\, and acceptance..Through performance and the literary arts\, “A Long 
 Journey Called Home” tells the story of growing up musically\, bears wit
 ness to what it means to be a student\, and invites listeners to be part o
 f a journey still unfolding.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnne Lover
 ing Rounds\, an Ann Arbor native\, is a poet\, pianist\, and professor of 
 English at Eugenio María de Hostos Community College\, City University of
  New York. While studying with pianist and 2026 GRAMMY ® nominee Adam Ten
 dler\, she has performed in venues including New York’s Merkin Hall\, St
 einway Hall\, and the DiMenna Center for Classical Music. She is the autho
 r of three books of poetry: Variations in an Emergency\, Little Double Ele
 gy for All of You\, and Clearing the Stage\, as well as literary criticism
  on modern American poets including Frank O’Hara and Allen Ginsberg. As 
 a professor\, she is a champion for artistic interdisciplinarity\, accessi
 bility\, and creativity.\n\n\n\n\n
