Whole Foods Market Ann Arbor Hosts Kids Day of Service

Whole Foods of Ann Arbor will be sponsoring a Kids Day of Service on Saturday, September 14. It sounds like a great, fun way to get kids involved in community service. They have asked me to share the details below with you:

Kids Day of Service benefits Growing Hope

What: Children, families and community members from the greater Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area are joining together with Whole Foods Market Ann Arbor team members in a show of volunteer support for Growing Hope.

Volunteers of all ages will help prepare the Growing Hope gardens for the cool winter months. Following a brief tour of Growing Hope, volunteer activities will range from thinning the rain garden and painting, to weeding and composting. A salad lunch, provided by Whole Kids Foundation, will conclude the event.

Located in Ypsilanti, Growing Hope is a not-for-profit dedicated to helping people improve their lives and their communities through gardening and healthy food access.

This local effort is part of a first-time, nationwide Whole Foods Market Kids Day of Service initiative. Nationally, the grocer’s program runs September 1-14, and it is anticipated that 19,000 children and adults will volunteer during this two-week period.

  • 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Growing Hope tour and volunteer activities
  • 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Lunch
