Throwback Thursday – Disneyland

I’m loving the new feature of Facebook that shows you photos that you have posted in previous years. It definitely provides inspiration for Throwback Thursday posts!

One year ago today, we were spending Spring Break at Disneyland.

The picture that Facebook showed me was of my daughter eating Chinese on the wharf at California Adventure. As we were ordering, the cashier heard my daughter and I debating whether she should order the kids meal or share an adult meal. She steered us to sharing an adult meal based on how my daughter was talking. The kids meal was basically rice with chicken nuggets and sauce while the adult meal was a true stir fry dish. It was also a very small portion. It turned out to be a good call since the kids meal was about 1/4 of the size of the adult portion.

2010 Disneyland Trip

My husband attended a conference at the Anaheim Convention Center (which is adjacent to Disneyland in 2010. We flew to Anaheim with him to spend a few days at Disneyland and California Adventure before his conference.

The one memory from this trip that stands out in my mind was that she really wanted to ride the Bugs Life rides alone (particularly Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train) including waiting in line. At Disney, you need to be 7 to ride alone, so at 4.5 she wasn’t old enough.

She wanted to ride alone, but you have be 7. The best she could do was her own row.

I’m going to really miss the Bugs Life area. It’s been removed since our last trip.

2014 Disneyland Trip

The biggest memory of this trip was being at Disneyland on the day of It’s a Small World’s 50th Birthday celebration. It was a great experience to see the Disneyland band march down the street with songwriter Richard Sherman leading a sing along from a fire truck.

After our last trip, I also made my daughter ride Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train alone after wanting to do it so badly on the previous trip.

Another highlight was getting to meet the Avengers at Innoventions. I recently learned that they are closing Innoventions and ending the meet and greets. I am glad that we were able to do it last year.

I also recommend breakfast at the Plaza. There are lots of different characters to meet there.

We also went to Disneyland at the end of 2007, but I don’t have those pictures on my laptop anymore.
