Pittsfield Library Closure

The Pittsfield library will be closed beginning Monday, September 23. The closure is scheduled to last 6-8 weeks. We will update when a re-opening date is announced.

The library will probably still be closed on election day (November 5). It WILL open just as a polling place for that day.

Pittsfield Library Renovation Plan

As part of the renovation they will be adding new kids game computers and new public computers.

They are adding 3 new bookable meeting rooms. One of the rooms will accommodate 35 people with a screen for presentations.

I visited the library on Saturday. I am hopeful that the ball popper will remain. My daughter loved it for years.

Pittsfield Branch Events

There will be no events at the Pittsfield Branch during the closure. Regular events like baby playgrounds and preschool storytime have been cancelled or moved.

  • Baby Playgroup:
    • Wednesday at 11a: Cancelled.
  • Preschool Storytime:
    • Thursday at 7p: Preschool Storytime will be at the Downtown Branch
    • Friday at 10a: Westgate also offers Preschool Storytime at the same time

The book lockers for reserved books will not be used during the closure.

Requested Items

Requested items will be sent to the Westgate Branch while Pittsfield is closed. If you want to pickup at a different location, it depends on whether you make the change before or after the item becomes available. While you are in the queue, you can use your online account to change the pickup location. Once the item is available, you need to contact the library by phone or the online form to change the pickup location.
