Taste of Music at Area Farmers Markets
Disclaimer: This post has been sponsored by Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. All opinions are my own.
Ann Arbor and surrounding communities feature many Farmers Markets. The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra will be bringing a Taste of Music to a number of local Farmers Markets over the next few months. After several events throughout the summer at farmers markets around southeast Michigan, Taste of Music is returning to Ann Arbor. They will be at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market on October 3. The majority of the funding for Taste of Music comes from the Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan.
Each Taste of Music has three components:
- An Instrument Petting Zoo
- A Performance by a small group of Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra musicians
- Free Tickets to A2SO for Food Assistance Program Participants
Taste of Music Instrument Petting Zoo
My daughter has always loved the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra’s Instrument Petting Zoo. At the Instrument Petting Zoo, Symphony members and volunteers will provide kids with instruction on how to play various instruments. Over the years, my daughter has had the opportunity to try playing various string instruments including the violin and cello. As she is getting older, I should make sure to attend some Instrument Petting Zoos to expose her to more instruments before she has to select an instrument in middle school.
Taste of Music Performances
Each Taste of Music event will include a performance by a small group from the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. This is a perfect (free) opportunity to introduce your kids to symphony music. Note that the Instrument Petting Zoo will take a break during the performance and resume again after the performance.
Taste of Music Free Tickets
Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra offers free tickets for those who receive food assistance. For more details, be sure to ask a representative of A2SO at the Farmers Market.
