18th Annual Hearts for the Arts Fundraiser

ANN ARBOR — Are you dreaming of traveling to a far off place? How about an African Safari? Or maybe you’d prefer to stay close to home and have a private tour of the University of Michigan Museum of Art or enjoy a private show for 25 at the Planetarium. These and many more one-of-a kind items have been spotted at the A2SO’s annual Hearts for the Arts fundraiser, this year taking place on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Barton Hills Country Club. This special evening, now in its eighteenth year, benefits the extensive community-wide educational and artistic programs of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.

The event will feature a silent auction, an elegant champagne reception, a not-to-be missed chef’s dinner, the lovely sound of music by Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra musicians led by A2SO Conductor and Music Director Arie Lipsky, and a lively not-so-silent auction. Special treats include the back-by-popular-demand A2SO Trio Performance with Dinner, charming themed-baskets of goodies, unique trips and experiences, and many more exciting one-of-a-kind packages.

This year, the A2SO recognizes Honorary Chairs Harry and Carmen Cross of the Ray and Eleanor Cross Foundation for their exceptional support of the A2SO for 30 years.

The dollars generated by this important event go to the A²SO’s education and artistic programs that serve over 30,000 youngsters through 50 ensembles in our schools, two youth concerts, dozens of Petting Zoos and 15 free KinderConcerts for toddlers. Music Education programs help children develop critical thinking skills, improve spatial relationship skills and open new doors of opportunity and learning.

Your Hearts for the Arts ticket will include the champagne reception, a delicious dinner, music and the entertaining live and silent auctions. Once again Hearts for the Arts will have round tables of 8-10. New this year, in an effort to be more cost-effective and ecofriendly, you may conveniently make your reservation online. By eliminating our old-fashioned mailed invitation, we save about $2,000 in postage, printing and paper costs— the cost of putting on 20 Instrument Petting Zoos, or three Ensembles in the Classroom.

The A2SO is a premier regional orchestra offering live symphonic music to over 76,000 patrons of all ages in venues ranging from the historic Michigan Theater and Hill Auditorium as well as schools, daycares, libraries, and various senior citizen centers in the five-county area.
