Summer Splash at Kalahari – Information and Giveaway
Today my daughter was at “friend camp”* and they went to Buhr Park Pool. My friend who was running friend camp today remarked that my daughter is a fish. Based on her love of the water it is no surprise that we love water parks. We visit Rolling Hills several times a year and have visited several indoor water parks to satisfy us through the winter days.
Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky has been on my to-do list for several years. It is substantially larger than other indoor water parks that we have visited and has a number of cool features that we can’t wait to try out. When Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky contacted me about participating in their Summer Splash Promotion I knew that it was a promotion that I definitely wanted to participate in and share with my readers. Kalahari Resorts provided me with a Press Create filled with a number of items including a voucher for an overnight stay, 4 safari outdoor adventure park passes, and Kalahari Merchandise.
In addition, they are going to send the same press crate to one of my readers. Yes, you will be able to win your own press kit from Kalahari in Sandusky including an overnight stay (with restrictions), 4 outdoor adventure park passes, plus the merchandise. More details will follow below.
Summer Splash is a one World African Celebration of Music, Food, and Art being held at both Kalahari Resorts – Sandusky and the Wisconsin Dells. In August they are celebrating Chef’s Harvest with a journey of authentic African food samplings. They will also have a variety of activities available at the resort such as Treasure Hunt Puzzle Contest, Story Times, African Mask Making, Bracelet Making, Limbo, and much more.

Kalahari’s Indoor Water Park in Sandusky, is 173,000 sq ft and features numerous slides, wave pool, and lazy river, and the famous Wave Rider. We can’t wait to try the Zip Coaster, Swahili Swirl, and Taszanian Twister. They also have activities that younger guests can participate in such as Kids Safari, and Leopard’s Lair. Note that on many attractions kids 48″ and under will be required to wear a life jacket. Also, many of their slides have a 48″ height requirement, so if your child is a slide lover and just under this height, it may be better to wait until they hit 48″. My daughter has a friend who is quite the daredevil and was quite disappointed to just miss the 48″ slides last year.
The Safari Outdoor Adventure Park is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and provides outdoor adventure fun. In the animal park, guests can assist with the care of the animals. Plus there are activities like a Ropes Course, Zip Line Tour, and Adventure Climbing Walls. In looking at the pictures of these, I’m not sure that I am brave enough for the heights achieved.

But Kalahari is more than just their Indoor Water Parka and the Safari Adventures Animal Park. They offer a large convention center, Spa Kalahari including the new Spa Kalahari Jr for kids ages 3 and over, the Big Game Arcade Room, Madagascar Mini-Golf, and the Tree Top Play Area. Kalahari has also worked hard to decrease its carbon footprint. Whether it is the use of low flow shower heads, “AquaRecycle” for laundry services, solar panels to provide more than half of the resort’s hot water, recycling (including hotel amenities like soap and shampoo), energy efficient lighting, and more efficient temperature control, it is clear that Kalahari has a commitment to the environment.

*Several friends and I joined forces to hold two weeks of friend camp this summer. We are each hosting two days of “camp” for a total of 7 kids. We had a Game day and LEGO day at our house. Other days have included trips to Buhr Park Pool or the Plymouth Splash Playground, science day, and various other fun activities. It is a very affordable way to send your child to camp since the only cost involved is the activities you chose to do with the kids on your day.
