Splash Pad Coming to Ypsi Township?
This morning I woke up and read on MLive that Ypsilanti Township is planning a splash pad for Ford Lake Park. At this point, the Ypsilanti Township Board of Trustees has approved the solicitation of proposals to build the pads to give an idea of the size, cost, and features that they would incorporate. At this time it is unknown whether the splash pad would be free or have an associated use fee.

After a very hesitant few years (ages 3-5) around splash pads, my daughter loves them now. The splash pad is one of the first places she visits at a water park (I often have to convince her to ride the slides first since they develop lines). I am guessing that we will visit
I am looking forward to visiting the Ford Lake Park sprays cape when it is installed. They have no timeline right now, but I hope it will be available for summer 2015.
Last summer she visited three splash pads. We took several trips to Rolling Hills where she played on the splash pad. At the end of last summer, we visited the new Blue Heron Bay splash pad at Independence Lake. She also visited the Plymouth Sprayscape with friends.
Blue Heron Bay’s new playscape was a big hit including it’s picturesque location on the shores of the lake and quite an improvement over the older facility. The downside to Blue Heron Bay is that there is a vehicle entry fee and a per person admission charge. Because we visit Rolling Hills multiple times a year, we typically purchase an annual vehicle pass for the Washtenaw County Parks so we did not pay the vehicle entry fee at Independence Lake. The admission to Blue Heron Bay ($3 last summer) was reasonable considering the slides and the extensive spray scape.
The Plymouth Sprayscape is nice because in addition to the sprayscape, which is free, there is an extensive playground that the kids also loved.
I am looking forward to a new sprayscape option at Ford Lake Park.
