Sesame Street Live! is in Town

Sesame Street Live is playing at the Fox Theatre in Detroit on Thursday through Sundays until February 21. There are multiple shows per day especially on the weekends. Each Thursday night is Family night with $10 tickets for the 7p show. There are 11a matinees on Thursday and Friday this week and next with $8 tickets for schools/daycares and $10 tickets for the general public. (We won’t talk about the $6/ticket Ticketmaster charge – you can buy tickets without the surcharge in person at Fox Theatre, Joe Louis Box Office, and Hockeytown Authentics in Troy).

We went to Sesame Street Live a number of years ago. My daughter has never been very into Sesame Street, so we have not returned. However, the Fox Theatre is absolutely amazing inside if you have never been. We went to one of the $10 family night shows and were in the balcony. It was very noisy up there and difficult to hear the songs. Since my daughter was not familiar with Sesame Street, she was not familiar with the songs so she got bored.  I am thinking of giving it another try since she is older now.

Sesame Street: The Best Of ElmoIf you go see a live show, plan to spend at least a few dollars on merchandise. There were numerous stands setup in the lobby. You should also plan to arrive early as there were lines to get through security at the door on the night that we went.

If you are an Elmo fan, you might want to consider The Best of Elmo MP3 Album for just $5 on Amazon. You can combine it with the $2 Amazon MP3 credit to get the album for just $3.
