Saline Fair is a Great Way to End Summer
The 2015 Saline Fair is a great way to end summer. It starts on Tuesday, September 1 with the parade and runs through a rides only day on Labor Day. The Saline Fair is held at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds on Ann Arbor-Saline Rd. Standard admission to the fair is $7 for those ages 11 and older, children are admitted for free.
Saline Fair Parade
The Saline Fair parade kicks off the fair at 6:30p on Tuesday, September 1. The parade is on Bennett St starting at Henne Field and running to Mill Pond Park. After the parade, the park will host old-fashioned games, prizes, and other activities.
Saline Fair Preschool Day
Preschool Day is on Thursday, September 3. There are special activities for toddlers and preschoolers from 9a-noon. Admission to Preschool Day is $5/person age 2 and over. Also included in Preschool Day admission are free kids rides for preschoolers from 11a-2p.
When my daughter was younger I loved taking her to Preschool Day at the Saline Fair. I can’t believe that it’s been 5 years since she was young enough to attend. She would enjoy exploring the special activities and the barn animals before the rides would open at 11a. We always had a great time and I was disappointed when she was too old for the event.
Other Special Days at Saline Fair
Friday is Ladies Day and Old Settlers Day. Little princesses will love the Princess Tea Party on Friday at 11a in Building B. Admission is free for senior citizens before 1p and is $5 for all others (age 11 and up) before 1p.
Saturday is Hero’s Day with military, law enforcement, and fire fighters receiving free admission (with ID).
The last full day of the fair is on Sunday, September 6th. On Monday, September 7th, only the rides are open and the hours are abbreviated (1-6p). Admission is free on Monday.
Rides at Saline Fair
The Saline Fair offers rides for both preschoolers and older kids. You can either purchase individual tickets or buy an all day armband (we usually do a combination of an armband for my daughter and individual tickets for us to join her on select rides). Armbands are $18/day except for Monday when they are $10. There is a $3 coupon in the fair book (page 17), or you can buy $12 armbands online (with a $0.99 processing fee) before September 1st.
