Really Chuck E Cheese??

This is a first. I am on many different mailing lists that send me an incentive for a birthday (or my child’s birthday). One of these lists that I am on is the Chuck E. Cheese.

This month I received a Half-Birthday promotion from Chuck E. Cheese. They were offering my daughter 20 free tokens and the suggestion of planning a walk-in party to celebrate. Are they kidding me? A party for a half-birthday?

We have always marked my daughter’s half-birthday with a small gift. Her birthday is less than two weeks after Christmas. Her first half-birthday (age 6 months) fell on what would have been my grandparents’ 60th anniversary. When she was younger it gave us a chance to give her a gift she was not developmentally ready for at Christmas/birthday, but would be ready for before the next year. But I’ve never dreamed of including anyone else in the celebration.

So what do you think? Is the e-mail suggesting a half-birthday party over the top?
