Prepare for MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron with Avengers Snacks

Disclaimer: Meijer has sponsored this post by providing a box of treats and a gift card.

When Meijer asked me to work on a promotion for the Avengers themed snacks, I knew it was a perfect fit. With MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron opening in theaters on May 1, my family wanted to re-watch some of the previous films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We have already started by watching The Avengers and Iron Man 3. This weekend, we took advantage of the package that Meijer sent us when we watched Thor: The Dark World.

Avengers Snacks and Merchandise

Our package from Meijer featured a collection of Marvel merchandise and snack products.

Contents of Avengers Box from MeijerA big hit in the package is the Avengers Blanket. It will be most welcome when watching movies in our basement which gets cold. Our Meijer package included:

  • MARVEL’s The Avengers DVD
  • Avengers Blanket
  • Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man Plush Figures
  • Kellogg’s Corn Flakes
  • Kellogg’s The Avengers Cereal
  • Kellogg’s The Avengers Fruit Snacks
  • MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron action figures
  • Adult Avengers T-Shirt

When we have been food shopping at Meijer, one of the first Avengers food items that caught my daughter’s eye were the Avengers Eggo Waffles. They are her typical breakfast even without the Avengers on the box!

Watching Thor: The Dark World

My daughter loved watching Thor: The Dark World with her new blanket and new friends. While watching, she was snacking on “Infinity Stones” – the Avengers Fruit Snacks that were included in our package. She was pretty insistent on calling the fruit snacks Infinity Stones.

Avengers Themed Dinner

We finished watching Thor: The Dark World on Sunday evening. Since my daughter had school the next morning, we decided to start the movie during dinner and make an Avengers themed dinner.

Meijer Avengers Dinner Collage

We started our meal with a Hulk’s Smashed Salad. For our main dish, I made Cap’s All-American Fried Chicken with Pepper Pott-atoes and Loki’s Green Beans. We also had Scarlet Witch’s Brew to drink.

When I was thinking of what to make using the Avengers food products from Kellogg’s, Nestle, and Dr Pepper, the first idea that came to mind was Corn Flake Fried Chicken. Since this is a very “American” dish, I named it for Captain America: Cap’s All-American Fried Chicken. I modified the Double Coated Chicken with Corn Flakes recipe on Food.com to use chicken tenderloins instead of bone-in chicken pieces by decreasing the cooking time.

When I was thinking of side dishes, I realized that Pepper Potts, Iron Man’s girlfriend, was the perfect inspiration for potatoes. I made mashed potatoes using red-skinned potatoes, ranch dressing, and butter. Of course I added ground pepper to live up to the Pepper Pott-atoes name. Since both Hulk and Loki are associated with greens, I used them as inspiration for our vegetables. Since Loki carries a staff, Loki’s Green Beans seemed like a good match. We have salad nightly with dinner, so I called it Hulk’s Smashed Salad.

For drinks, I looked to one of the new Avengers to make Scarlet Witch’s brew. I made strawberry milk using Nesquik Strawberry Syrup. Be sure to look for the Avengers themed Nesquik products.

More Preparation for MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron

We still want to watch Captain America: The Winter Soldier and maybe The Guardians of the Galaxy before seeing MARVEL’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. We have a few ideas for other snacks to make from the Avengers branded products while we watch the movies. I want to make Black Widow Shakes…a chocolate milk shake made with Nesquik chocolate milk and topped with Nesquik strawberry syrup. I am also thinking of using the Eggo waffles to make Captain America shields with vanilla yogurt, and strawberries.

Host Your Own Marvel Viewing Party

Shop at Meijer

Prepare for your own Marvel viewing party by shopping at Meijer for Avengers themed snacks. In addition to the Marvel snacks on the grocery side, Meijer also has a Marvel Avengers display on the merchandise side. Meijer is currently offering mPerks coupons on Nesquik powder and Marvel merchandise. If you don’t currently use mPerks, I definitely recommend signing up for an account. I have saved lots of money shopping at Meijer with their coupons.

PicMonkey Avengers Printables

I made our food signs using PicMonkey. The basic version includes shields representing Captain America, Hulk, and Thor (as well as other super heroes). Masks for Iron Man and Captain America are available in the Royale portion of PicMonkey.
