This profile of Prairie Park is part of our Summer Series Tuesday Playground Profiles
Each week Ann Arbor with Kids is profiling a different playground in the Ann Arbor area including Ann Arbor, Saline, Ypsilanti, Dexter, etc. Today we are profiling Prairie Park, the playground at the Pittsfield Township Offices.
Prairie Park
Pittsfield Township’s Prairie Park is behind the Township offices at the intersection of Michigan Ave and Platt Rd. Prairie Park offers two play areas and is a great place to visit when attending the Pittsfield Township Farmers Market. If you’re a Pittsfield resident (like us), you can stop and play while paying your utility bill or property taxes. We visited while paying our utility bill.

Prairie Park Playground Review
We have been visiting Prairie Park Playground for years. I remember my daughter getting stuck at the bottom of the “U” tunnel at 2.5 and having to climb down to retrieve her – without sliding into her. Now at 11.5, she has no problem mastering the interlocking tunnels.
My daughter’s favorite part of Prairie Park is the Zip Line. At 4’11”, she is finding most playground zip lines too short. She had no problem hanging from the one at Prairie Park.
When I shared a photograph of the park after our visit, a couple of readers commented that they have had issues with ticks at the playground. Be sure to check your children carefully after any playground visit (here or anywhere else). In past years, there have been lots of mosquitos at the playground, particularly at twilight. We had no issues with mosquitos on this visit.
