New Menu Items at Noodles & Company
Disclosure: I was invited to Noodles & Company for a Noodles Tasting event. Along with writers from other websites, we were given sample menu items. All opinions are my own
Whether we’re running errands or balancing sports practice or school events, we often find ourselves needing a quick bite on the run. Noodles & Company has always been one of my daughter’s favorite places to grab a quick bite. With 3 locations around Ann Arbor (and many more nationwide), it is frequently convenient when we are on the go. Their varied menu from Italian Dishes to Asian Dishes to Traditional Favorites to Salads is sure to please almost anyone.
They have recently added a separate Kids Menu. The Kids Menu offers smaller portions of their dishes along with two sides such as broccoli, apple slices, carrot slices, or a kids crispy dessert. At 10, my daughter prefers to order a regular small for the larger size dish.
Now is the time to check out the new menu items with free kids meals with the purchase of an adult menu available from August 6 & 7.
This summer Noodles & Company is introducing two all new salads. While they’ve had salads on the menu, I have to admit that I’ve never ordered more than a side salad. I usually take the “When in Rome” philosophy and stick with Noodle orders. However, after trying these new salads, I will be adding the Napa Market Salad with Chicken to my to-order list.
Napa Market Salad with Chicken
The Napa Market Salad features mixed greens with Gala apple slices, Roma tomatoes and red bell peppers. It is topped with pulled grilled chicken, bleu cheese, and bacon crumbles. The salad is tossed with a pomegranate vinaigrette. I loved the Napa Market Salad! I will definitely be ordering this again when I want a lighter meal.
Chicken Veracruz Salad
The Chicken Veracruz Salad features mixed greens with Roma tomatoes, red onion, fresh cut corn, and fresh California avocados. It is topped with chili-lime chicken, bacon, and tossed with Jalapeño Ranch dressing, crispy jalapeños and cilantro. While this salad is listed as spicy, the sample that I had was not overly spicy and I am usually not very tolerant of spicy dishes. Of course, I may have been lucky and not had any crunchy jalapeños in my sample.
Upcoming Sponsored Events
The number one best-selling dish at Noodles & Company locations nationwide is Wisconsin Mac & Cheese. This is my daughter’s favorite Noodles & Company dish. We were served Wisconsin Mac & Cheese which was customized with broccoli. Broccoli is a great addition to Mac & Cheese! I love that I can customize the meal by adding a vegetable like broccoli.
My personal favorite, go-to dish at Noodles & Company is Pad Thai. They recently revised the Pad Thai recipe and the new version is even better! We sampled the Pad Thai with shrimp (always a great combination).
Customize Your Meal
One thing that I love about Noodles & Company is that their meals are extremely flexible and you can customize them any way that you want. The standard meals all come minus proteins. For an added charge, you can add the protein of your choice (chicken, steak, pork, shrimp, organic tofu).
In addition to customizing with your choice of protein, you can also swap ingredients or add vegetables. For example, I have a mushroom intolerance and never really noticed how many of the Noodles & Company menu items include mushrooms. I can order any dish on the menu and just ask them to drop the mushrooms or add another vegetable in its place.
We’ve also used the customization to add broccoli which my daughter loves to her Wisconsin Mac & Cheese to ensure she’s getting some vegetables in her diet.
Our tasting menu included 2 appetizers, 2 salads, 9 noodle dishes, and 3 desserts.
The appetizers included one of my favorites, the potstickers. Sadly, the menu no longer includes the flatbreads that my daughter loved.
We tasted 9 noodle dishes, 3 from each category on the menu. We started with the Italian inspired dishes – Penne Rosa, Pesto Cavatappi, and Alfredo MontAmore®. Unfortunately the standard preparation for all of these dishes include mushrooms so I was unable to sample them. However, both the Penne Rosa and Pesto Cavatappi are dishes that I order on occasion (just omitting the mushrooms).
In the Asian category, the Bangkok Curry offers the most vegetables on the menu (this includes mushrooms, so I didn’t try it). Japanese Pan Noodles are a spicy udon noodles with shiitake mushrooms (which I can eat).
We finished our meal with “Traditional Favorites” such as the Wisconsin Mac & Cheese, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and Steak Stroganoff. Needless to say I have never tried the Steak Stroganoff since it has a mushroom based sauce and mushrooms in the dish. Of these, I prefer the Mac & Cheese.
We finished our meal with dessert. For me, dessert was the least satisfying of the courses. We were presented with a sampling platter of crispy treats, snickerdoodles, and chocolate chip cookies. The way the cookies were stacked, the cinnamon from the top of the snickerdoodle was stuck to my crispy treat. While I like both cinnamon and crispy treats, I was not a fan of the combination. But, if you’re ordering desert in store, they are packaged separately so you won’t have a problem with the cross-flavors.
Beyond the items that we sampled, Noodles & Company offers some sandwiches, Noodle-less BUFF bowls, soups, and more.
Ann Arbor Noodles & Company Locations
There are 3 Noodles & Company locations in Ann Arbor. An interesting trivia fact – the Asian Noodle dishes are more popular in the Ann Arbor locations than other Michigan Noodles & Company locations.
The Arborland Noodles & Company location has been opened the longest of the 3. It is located in the strip of stores parallel to the main shopping center entrance. This section has a very small lot that can be hard to navigate, so we often park in the main lot by Five Below.
The State Street location is somewhat unique with it’s two story dining room. It is located just north of Nickels Arcade on the west side of the street.
Stadium & Liberty
The Stadium & Liberty location was formerly a KFC and was changed to a Noodles & Company a few years ago.
