Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Supports KinderConcerts by Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.

The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor has provided a grant to the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra in support of the Kinderconcert Series. Kinderconcerts are 30 minute programs held at local libraries for toddlers and preschoolers to introduce them to the orchestra and the instruments that make up the orchestra.

While my daughter has outgrown the Kinderconcert series (and is in school during many of the sessions), she did enjoy the sessions that we attended when she was younger. The final set of Kinderconcerts for the 2013-2014 year feature the “Fabulous Flute”. They are being held Friday, May 9 at the Downtown Branch of the Ann Arbor District Library (9:30a & 10:30a), Saturday, May 10 at the Dexter District Library (10a), and Monday, May 12 at the Whittaker Rd Branch of Ypsilanti District Library.

Ann Arbor – The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the receipt of a $2000 grant from the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor. This funding will help support the 2014-15 KinderConcerts Series. Kinderconcerts are free 30-minute concert programs hosted by the Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and Dexter District Libraries. Toddlers to five-year-olds join A2SO musicians, a child movement specialist, and a pianist for a delightfully guided introduction to the orchestra through storytelling and motion.

“I am proud of how KinderConcerts serve our community and thank Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor who have been championing this program since 2009 which keeps this program free to all youngsters and their families,” said J. Robert Gates, A2SO President.

The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor has been providing grants to local nonprofit organizations for more than 90 years. It is part of Kiwanis International, a worldwide service organization whose mission is, “Serving the Children of the World.” Locally the Ann Arbor Kiwanis Club, which raises funds though its weekly “Thrift Sale” and “Warehouse Sale,” will distribute well over $200,000 this year to assist local nonprofit groups in improving opportunities for the children, youth, and adults of the greater Ann Arbor Community.
