Early Childhood Music Classes at EMU Community Music Academy

Disclosure: Community Music Academy has sponsored this post about their spring 2017 Early Childhood Music Classes. All opinions are my own.

The Early Childhood Music Classes at Eastern Michigan University’s Community Music Academy are a great choice. There are options for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. My daughter and I attended the classes when she was a toddler and had a great time.

Early Childhood Music Classes at EMU’s Community Music Academy

EMU’s Community Music Academy offers Early Childhood Music Classes for children under the age of 5 accompanied by a parent or caretaker. The classes are split into two age groups. There are classes for ages 0-3 and for ages 3-5.

The goal of the Community Music Academy is to give young children a foundation for lifelong music-making and enjoyment. The classes immerse children in the world of music through songs, movement, and play. Props such as scarves and streamers are used in movement. Kids make their own music with small percussion instruments like bells, shakers, and sticks at each class. Additionally, classes include singing and chanting.

Our Experience with the Early Childhood Music Classes

We attended these classes when my daughter was a toddler. She always enjoyed the classes. She loved having a friend and his mom attend with us. I definitely recommend registering with a friend. They loved dancing with the scarves. One of my daughter’s favorite parts was the plastic microphones shown in the photo below. We had to get her one for home too.

I loved the small class size and individual attention that they received. We only attended two sessions before a schedule change meant the class no longer worked for us and the friends we attended with.

Each class is 45 minutes and there are 6 classes in the session. The spring session will run from April 24 through June 10 (no class on May 27 or May 29).
