North American International Auto Show Rolls into Town – Enter to Win Tickets

Now that January is here, that means that the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit is just around the corner. I’ll be attending Media Days for the second year on behalf of A Girls Guide to Cars. My husband is jealous that he doesn’t get to attend with me. Thank you to A Girls Guide to Cars and Steel Market Development Institute for sponsoring my attendance and articles.

2018 Detroit Auto Show

NAIAS is for the Whole Family

The Detroit Auto Show is a great event for the whole family. In addition to checking out the cars, there are usually some fun interactive displays and activities for kids.Check out some of the fun from the 2017 NAIAS. Sadly, Lightning McQueen is not returning. But, I’m hoping there will be lots of fun activities at the 2018 show.

What I’ll Be Seeing

Our group from A Girls Guide to Cars will be receiving a tour of the Auto Show. After our tour, I’ll be sure to share some of the innovations in cars and also some fun activities for families who visit the Detroit Auto Show.

Our group will also be learning about the importance of steel in car design from Steel Market Development Institute. A few things that I learned at last year’s press conference are:

  • Steel is up to 6x stronger than it was a decade ago
  • Steel is 3-4x stronger than aluminum alloys
  • Steel is recyclable – 60-80 tons a year are recycled
  • Steel production releases significantly less greenhouse gases than production of aluminum alloys

Follow along with my adventures at NAIAS on my Instagram and Twitter feeds with the highlights shared on Facebook. By following the tags #DetroitLovesAutos and #SteelMatters you can follow along with all of the goings on at NAIAS.

The NAIAS public show runs from Saturday, January 20 through Sunday, January 28. The show is open from 9a-10p daily except for the last day when it closes at 7p. The last admission is 1 hour before closing time. Tickets are $14/adults and $7 for children (ages 7-12) and seniors (ages 65+). Children 6 and under are free with a parent or guardian. Tickets are available at the door or online. New this year, online tickets are now delivered as eTickets instead of needing to pick them up at Will Call as in past years.

Parking is limited at Cobo Center. A good idea is to park elsewhere in the city. Then, take the People Mover to Cobo Center or the Q Line to Campus Martius Park. It is a 4 block walk from Campus Martius to Cobo.
