Ann Arbor Christmas Tree Lightings and Christmas Parades

Christmas Tree Lightings and Parades

Christmas tree lightings and parades all draw crowds and are a risk for 2020. However there are still some local events happening with social distancing precautions.

Note: With cases on the rise in November, it is possible that changes will be made before events happen. If you know of one we missed, let us know in the comments.

So far, I only found a tree lighting ceremony in Saline. Some events are announced closer to the date, so there may be more added later.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

KeyBank – 100 W. Michigan Ave Saline
Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm
Join Saline for their Tree Lighting Ceremony. The event is a partnership of City of Saline, the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce, and KeyBank.. The Tree is in front of KeyBank at the corner of Michigan Ave & N. Ann Arbor St. There will be singing, light fare, and tree decorating. The event will be fully outside with cookies from Benny's Bakery. Note: There is no statement about COVID safety, masks, or social distancing. Based on this, we do not recommend attending in person, but going to see the tree after lighting

Ann Arbor Christmas Parades

Saline has modified their parade to be a reverse parade this year. Instead of a parade, Santa will drive through various Milan neighborhoods.

Santa Claus is Coming to Milan

Downtown Milan – Main St Milan
Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm
Milan is not holding their annual Christmas parade this year. But, Santa will be visiting town. He will be riding on the Backstreet Cruisers Choo Choo Train and be escorted by Milan Area Police & Fire. They will visit various neighborhoods & Side Streets. A map will be published closer to the event date.

Saline's 45th Annual Christmas Parade - Drive Through

Liberty School – 7265 N. Ann Arbor St Saline
Time: 8:30pm-10:00pm
Saline will be holding their 45th Annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 5. Unlike previous years, they have converted it to a drive-through event. Personally, I think this is a great idea and we can be in the warmth of our car instead of freezing on the sidelines. This year's parade theme is Home for the Holidays - a very fitting description since most of our people will probably be staying in their own homes - but also missing their home of origin. The drive-through will be on Thibault Lane just south of Liberty School. Lineup is on Woodland Dr.
