Arbor Annie's Weekday Picks - July 22-26

Arbor Annie’s Weekday Roundup – July 22-26

Art Fair is over which means visitors will be leaving and many townies will be back from vacation. This week’s highlights include the 4-H Youth Show and the WISC swim championships.

There are still after-effects to the storms on Friday and Saturday nights. As of Sunday morning, the DTE map is still showing power outages in the Ann Arbor area (it says it was last updated at 9:20 Sunday morning). Malletts Creek Library was still closed on Sunday, but is scheduled to reopen on Monday at 10a. Independence Lake Water Park and Disc Golf will be closed on Monday as they repair storm damage. The Rolling Hills Waterpark Wave Pool was non-operational Sunday. They anticipate it opening on Monday.

One of the big events this week is the 4-H Youth Show which runs through Friday.

Temperatures are far more normal for Ann Arbor this week – Upper 70s to low 80s early in the week to mid-80s by the end of the week. That means it’s a much better time to be outdoors. Find a new playground to explore in our weekly Playground Profile series.

Many local families will be spending time at the Skyline High School pool for swim championships. With one child, I’m lucky to spending just one day there. Other families have children in multiple age groups and will be there multiple days. But if you’re not tied up at the pool all day, check out our local pools, water parks, and spray grounds

Blueberry Picking kicks off this week. With the extreme temperatures and family commitments, we didn’t make it out last week, but I’d like to head to Dexter this week.

The Lion King opened over the weekend. We didn’t see it. In part because we had a busy schedule and in part because I didn’t see the need for a remake. If you saw it, let us know what you thought.

Spider-Man Far From Home opened earlier this month and is a great choice.

Samuel L. Jackson and Jon Favreau in Columbia Pictures’ SPIDER-MAN: ™ FAR FROM HOME.

Avengers Endgame finally topped Avatar’s Box Office total. It comes out on Digital July 30th, so this week may be your last chance to see it on the big screen. We saw it twice – opening weekend and again with the added scenes and tribute to Stan Lee.

Avengers Endgame - Team walks through compound

Toy Story 4 is still going strong. Be sure to check our review and make plans to see it yourself.

Toy Story - Bo Peep, Buzz, Woody, Bunny & Ducky

    Also still in theaters are:

    • Aladdin

Other upcoming Family Friendly movies through the summer are:

    • August 2 – Dora and the Lost City of Gold
    • August 16 – The Angry Birds Movie 2
