Another Rainy Day – Flooding Around Detroit
Today is shaking up to be another rainy day. Fortunately for my daughter’s water themed camp this week, they were able to get outside for a little bit yesterday afternoon. Hopefully they’ll have the same luck today.
However, if your kids are home and you are making plans for the day, it is a good day to stay in and around Ann Arbor. Parts of the Detroit metro area have flooded. Even major highways (currently I-94, Southfield Expressway, I-696, and I-75) are closed this morning due to lingering standing water. From a quick glance at the traffic map, there are issues in Dearborn, Royal Oak, Fernwood, Roseville, and more. For this reason, I am recommending against trips to Henry Ford Museum, Great Lakes Crossing, and Somerset Collection. The Detroit Zoo is closed due to flooding.
From what I have heard and seen reported there are no flooding issues around the Ann Arbor area. Although I just heard that 23 South is closed near Washtenaw due to an accident.
Locally, check out my recommendations for Rainy Summer Day Activities.
