The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra’s Holiday Pops concert is a perfect way to celebrate the music of the holiday season.
The Holiday Pops Concert features the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. They will play a wide variety of holiday tunes. This year’s concert will also feature music from the movie Home Alone. Special guests will also provide choral accompaniment on certain songs.
The 2017 Holiday Pops Concert is at 8p on Friday, December 15 in Hill Auditorium. Bank of Ann Arbor is a co-sponsor of the concert with support from A2 Hosting.
Holiday Pops Guest Performers
Several local choral groups join the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra for the Holiday Pops Concert. This year they’ll be joined by Ann Arbor Youth Chorale and Boychoir of Ann Arbor and High School choruses from Pioneer, Huron, and Dexter High. The all male Measure to Measure choral group will also participate. Finally, the concert concludes with the orchestra and all choral groups harmonizing Let There Be Peace on Earth.

The Symphony hosted my daughter and I at the 2014 Holiday Pops concert. Our seats were in the balcony. While we were far from the stage, we could see the whole stage and hear the concert well.

Holiday Pops Audience
The Holiday Pops Concert is suitable for all ages. When we attended in 2014, I saw preschoolers in attendance through senior citizens. However, the concert did run over 2 hours with an intermission. Even at nearly 9, my daughter was tired by the end of the show.
Other Upcoming A2SO Events
The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra’s Family Concert Series continues in 2018 with The Music of Harry Potter on Sunday, March 4. Enjoy magic of Jonathon LaChance during the show. Don’t miss the pre-show activities from the Ann Arbor Hands On Museum, Owls from the Leslie Science Center, and of course the A2SO Instrument Petting Zoo. Tickets to the show would make a great family gift this holiday season! Get yours before they sell out.
Also in 2018, the Symphony resumes their KinderConcert series at local libraries. The KinderConcert series introduces kids from birth to age 5 to instruments and classical music and movement. The January series will feature the Viola. Then, the May series will feature the Clarinet.
