Top Ann Arbor Ice Cream Shops

With the warm summer temperatures, are you wondering about the best Ann Arbor Ice Cream Shops? Check out our list.

We’ve definitely been hitting the ice cream this week with my daughter’s school ice cream social, her class trip to Washtenaw Dairy, and our annual post-Science Olympiad ice cream party. Last night my husband and I finished dinner with ice cream at Ypsilanti’s Go! Ice Cream.

Local Ann Arbor Ice Cream Shops

It’s hard to go wrong with the local ice cream shops. In July 2015, I asked the readers for their favorite Ann Arbor Ice Cream shops. The top locations were:

I still have to visit Blank Slate Creamery. We have tried a few times, but it was before they opened, or their parking lot was being repaved, or other issues. We go to Washtenaw Dairy a few times a year. I also need to visit Mickey’s in Saline. We used to go when they were in downtown Saline a few years ago, but have to visit them now that they’ve moved further west.

Ypsilanti’s Go! Ice Cream is another great choice. They had a few votes in our July 2015 poll. At the time they were a bike vendor. Now they have a store front in the alley at 10 N. Washington in Ypsilanti. We loved their sweet browned butter flavor. We tried it a couple of weeks ago while my daughter was at camp. We returned with her a week later and she loved it. Note: They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Also in Ypsilanti is Cream & Crumb. After trying to make a 3rd visit to Go! Ice Cream on a Tuesday when they are closed, we went to Depot Town to try out Cream & Crumb’s ice cream. It was another delicious trip. They sell ice cream from Guernsey Farms Dairy in Northville. I had Black Cherry and my daughter had Key Lime Pie. My husband decided to take advantage of the Crumb side of the business and got Coconut Cheesecake.

Are you a fan of Ben & Jerry’s? Be sure to stop in the Ann Arbor shop at 304 S. State St.

I actually forgot Cold Stone Creamery when I first wrote the article. We used to visit Cold Stone regularly, particularly when their Saline location was open as it was near my parents. Now, there is the Arborland location (3597-B Washtenaw Ave) and two locations in Canton (50409 Independence St and 41276 Ford Rd).

Not Quite Ice Cream

Iorio’s Gelateria is a favorite of ours. We regularly visit when we are having lunch or dinner in the State Street area.

Ollie’s in Depot Town updated their space and has both a bar and their ice cream shop. Check it out. We like it when we go for cruise nights.

    • We actually gave up on Depot Town Saturday night. The 2 lots we usually use (behind Aubrees & by Frog Island) were full when we got there. We went to Ypsi Alehouse instead. Last time we ate in Depot Town we had dessert at the Cream & Crumb – but we got cake instead of ice cream.
