Young People’s Theater Presents Disney’s Tarzan

Young People’s Theater will be performing Disney’s Tarzan as their spring musical. The spring musical is their biggest production each year and is held at UM’s Power Center.

Performances of Tarzan:

No Events

We have always been impressed with the Young People’s Theater shows that we have attended. I was really disappointed that our schedule was too busy in 2014 to see their production of Wizard of Oz, but we made it for Mary Poppins last year.

See our review of 2015’s Mary Poppins2013’s The Little Mermaid, and 2011’s Beauty & the Beast. We’ll have to see if 2016 breaks our streak of only attending YPT shows in years with odd numbers.

About Tarzan…

YPT’s very own local young people take center stage with Tarzan, based on Disney’s epic animated musical adventure and Edgar Rice Burrough’s Tarzan of the Apes. Tarzan features heart-pumping music by rock legend Phil Collins and a book by Tony Award-winning playwright, David Henry Hwang.

High-flying excitement and hits like the Academy Award winning “You’ll Be in My Heart” as well as “Son of Man” and “Two Worlds” make Tarzan an unforgettable theatrical experience.

Washed up on the shores of West Africa, an infant boy is taken in and raised by gorillas who name him Tarzan. Apart from striving for acceptance from his ape father, Tarzan’s life is mostly monkey business until a human expedition treks into his tribe’s territory and he encounters creatures like himself for the first time. Tarzan struggles to navigate a jungle, thick with emotion as he discovers his animal upbringing clashing with his human instincts.

A title that’s recognizable the world over, Tarzan is a powerhouse of a musical that will capture your heart!

Tarzan will be in all hearts, and “swingin’ fun” for the whole family!

Here’s What Critics and Audiences Say About Tarzan…
